A Concept Analysis of Self-efficacy

Abstract
|
|
|
The purposes of this paper were to clarify the meaning of the concept "self-efficacy" to define the precise attributes of "self-efficacy" which could be a basis for nursing interventions. This study uses Walker & Avant¢¥s process of concept analysis.
The concept of self-efficacy can be defined as follows : self-efficacy is a cognitive process of a person and confidence of being capable of performance to determine behavioral change.
Attributes of self-efficacy are defined as
1) self-efficacy is a cognitive process of a person ;
2) self-efficacy determines behavioral change of a person ;
3) self-efficacy contains confidence ;
4) self-efficacy is capable of behavioral performance.
If self-efficacy is well applied to nursing clients, it will, be nursing intervention to maintain and improve health.
